If you view this larger, you'll see this one marks the burial place of at least 3 family members. Do wish I'd seen the hospital sign in the background before taking this picture. But on second thought, it lends a certain air of irony to the shot (read the inscription on the grave!) so I opted not to omit it. Today is setup for the Richmond Christmas Craftsmen's Classic Arts & Crafts Show (say that 3 times fast!) so it will be a very long day. The show opens tomorrow!

SmugMug > keywords > charlotte north carolina > November 3rd, 2009 Another shot from the Charlotte, NC Settlers' Cemetery. It was dark enough that the street lamps came on automatically. This is best viewed in a larger size. We stopped by to see my mother last night on the way home and decided on impulse to stay overnight. Hadn't seen her since Mother's Day last May! For those who remember her double bout with cancer last year (breast & lung), she's doing as well as can be expected post-surgeries. No chemo and no radiation was needed, something for which we are very thankful.

Surprisingly, the Gothic church in the distance isn't associated with the cemetery. Yesterday was very grey, so I chose to shoot in black & white. On the road today heading back to Virginia.
